46 Mott Rookies is a new business in Chinatown that opened on October 2nd, 2021. Founded by the same team behind 46 Mott Bakery, this unique eatery focuses on claypot rice and BBQ skewers.

Their most popular claypot rice topping is pork with mushroom, but they also have other traditional options such as Chinese sausage, preserved meat, chicken, and spare ribs. Prices are very affordable, with claypot rice starting from $7 and skewers starting from $2 each.

46 Mott Rookies is currently open Thursdays to Fridays from 12 to 8 pm and Saturdays to Sundays from 12 to 8:30 pm. The team plans on expanding the hours and menu later on and becoming a late-night spot.

At the staff’s recommendation, Chloe tried the combination claypot rice and chicken skewers. The claypot rice was fragrant and not overly oily or salty. The chicken skewers were juicy and paired well with the complimentary satay sauce. She also got a claypot rice to go and can confirm that it comes with a layer of crispy rice on the bottom!
